We are developing systems for personalized prostate cancer medicine, including methods of converting tissue information to digital information. The successful tissue dynamics-digital integration team leader will work under the supervision of the project director to develop, implement, and coordinate work by our tissue processing and tissue imaging teams. Essential are a strong published research background and PhD in a relevant field, excellent communication skills, and an ability to deliver meaningful results both independently and as part of a team. Prior experience in publishing results in top scientific journals, in data analysis, and in preparation of elegant graphic illustrations is a major plus. The successful candidate has a broad interest in biology and medicine, has leadership qualities, and has high attention to detail. The TDI Team leader will continuously integrate team progress across diverse disciplines including genomics, cell biology, pathology, medicine, bioinformatics, software and system design and management. Deep experience in only one of these fields is necessary, but strong desire to learn in all of these fields with the support of the project director is a prerequisite. The candidate will participate in ongoing research projects and will be responsible for management of specific projects under supervision of the project director.


The position (100% workload) will be filled for a fixed-term period until 31.12.2020. It is located mainly in the Arvo building on the Kauppi campus Tampere (Finland). The appointment is expected to start on 29 April 2019 or as mutually agreed. Trial period of six months applies to all new employees.

The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, for postdoctoral Researcher job demands levels are 5-6. In addition to the basic salary, supplementary salary will be paid according to the personal performance, the sum rising to a maximum of 46.3 % of the basic salary level for the post. Typically, the salary for a postdoc is around 3200-3500 €.
